Thereasa G. Featherston

December 5, 1953 ~ December 23, 2020 (age 67)

Obituary

Thereasa Gail Featherston, 67, passed away on December 23, 2020.  She was born on December 5, 1953, in Cooper, Texas, to Delbert Gray and Audrey May Featherston.  She was the youngest surviving girl of 13 children.

At the age of seven, she was sent to live in Buckner Children’s Home in Dallas, Texas.  She lived there until the age of 18.  Soon after leaving the orphanage, she married twice and gave birth to three beautiful children.  Thereasa was also a homemaker and singer, dancer, and songwriter.  She loved all types of music.  Her favorite performer was Elvis Presley.  She also loved softball and played for Buckner Children’s Home while she was there.  In the course of her second marriage, which lasted 29 years, she traveled a lot.  She loved being a mother and was a homemaker for the majority of her life.  At the age of 45, she became a member of a country gospel singing group out of Stephenville, Texas.  She traveled to some of the smaller cities near Stephenville, singing with the group at some country opera houses and church venues.  This was one of the favorite times in her life.  At the age of 47, she suffered two brain aneurysms, and her health declined.  Throughout her life, she remained close to her children and her brothers and sisters.  She was the proud grandmother to her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Thereasa also loved watching movies and television.  She was especially fond of the actor Mathew McConaughey.  Although she didn’t get to spend as much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she would have liked due to health reasons and distance, she loved them very much.  Thereasa was a wonderful mother who was also our friend.  She never met a stranger and always made a point to say hello to every baby that came within a few feet of her.  She loved babies so much that she started a doll collection.  She passed down her love for dolls to one of her children.  Thereasa was not wealthy as far as money goes, but she was rich in love, family, and kindness.  If you needed help, she never hesitated.  She was a Christian lady and loved to attend church and sing special music with her daughters every chance she would get.  Her favorite color was purple, and her favorite flower was the yellow rose of Texas.

Her struggle on this earth is over; she is now home in Heaven.  She had a positive and loving impact on many lives, and she will be greatly missed.

Thereasa is survived by her children Melinda Darlene Caten and husband Chad, and Jennifer Gail Westover; grandchildren Christian M.Vela, Victoria Matthew and husband Logan, Dustin Caten, Annaleese Westover, and Robert Westover; great-grandchildren Alaynna Moncibais, Kailyn Matthew, and Cylis Matthew; sisters Frances Featherston and Monnie Pilgrim; brothers William Featherston and Joey Featherston, and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son Michael Eugene Harrison; sisters Mary Featherston and Melinda Featherston; brothers Delbert Featherston, Jimmy Featherston, Argus Featherston, Weldon Featherston, Nathan Featherston, and Robert Featherston.
