Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Rand passed peacefully in the hospital in Athens, Texas, on October 19, 2021, with her family at her side. She was born on December 11, 1933, in Springville, Tennessee, the daughter of Mont Clendenin Allen and Lucy Brown Mathis Allen.

Elizabeth Ann was a faithful person who enjoyed attending church at Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City, Texas, and being with her family. In her earlier years, she worked as a secretary while raising her three daughters in Forney, Texas. In the following years, she became very involved in her grandkids’ and even her great-grandkids’ lives. She was a comical person who made everyone laugh. She was able to spend some of her later years in Tennessee with her siblings, and she loved talking about her brothers and sisters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Roy Rand of Kaufman, Texas. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald C. “Duck” Allen of Springville, Tennessee, and her great-granddaughter, Emma Kate of Kaufman, Texas.

Elizabeth Ann is survived by her three daughters Glenda Ivey of Seven Points, Janice Cassell of Forney, and Cindy Wood and her husband Jerry Wood of Malakoff. In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her grandchildren Roy “Dobber” Ivey of Kerens, Matt Griffin of Grand Saline, Katie McBarron and her husband Mike McBarron of Malakoff. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Breanna Layfield and her husband Alex of Kerens, Addison Ivey of Krum, Gracie Meador of Malakoff, Cole Griffin of Farmersville, and her great-great-granddaughter Lyla Shae Layfield of Kerens. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings Shirley Davis, Flossie Wade, Johnny Allen and his wife Marianne, Ronnie Allen, all of Springville, Tennessee, and Nelda Ray and her husband Mack Ray of Paris, Texas. She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and friends.

Allen Chance with Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City, Texas, will officiate for the Rand family.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
